Overview

Founded in 1938 by Dr. K. M Munshi, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is an intellectual, cultural and educational movement dedicated to the twin tasks of interpreting the age old yet ageless message of our country and of integrating our varied and vibrant culture with the changing needs of the present day world.

During the eight decades of its existence the Bhavan has come to be recognized as a symbol of India's glorious past and as a comprehensive national institution with an international outlook touching all facets of life and enriching all spheres of activity.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan conducts classes from Kindergarten to post-graduate research and imparts education in subjects ranging from Carnatic Music to Computers, from Sanskrit to Business Management and from Yoga to Journalism. This is being accomplished through its centres spread all over the country and abroad, through its constituent institutions which today number over 120, through its various publications, through cultural and educational programmes it conducts from time to time and above all through personal discussion and dialogue.

BHAVAN'S NURSERY TEACHER TRAINING COLLEGE, KOCHI(BNTTC)

The Nursery Teacher Training Course began on 1st June 2010. The students are given a lot of practical experience in teaching in the various Bala Mandir schools in the city. Professionals are invited to give lectures and demonstrations on the different aspects of early childhood care and education. The curriculum is updated regularly.

BHAVAN'S BALA MANDIRS, KOCHI

Bhavan's Bala Mandir, the Nursery wing which was started in 1971 has now six branches - Tankshed Palace Ernakulam, Elamakkara, Eroor, Kakkanad, Thiruvamkulam and Velloor with an appropriate strength of 1900 students approximately 96 teaching and 14 non - teaching staff members. The curriculum is designed to expose the child to various stimulating experiences which promote mental growth and personality development. Equal importance is given to curricular as well as co- curricular activities. Children celebrated all the annual festivals. Teachers were given opportunities to improve their professional competence by attending workshops and training programmes.
